AccessCollabs endeavors to work with others to create truly inclusive art, across multiple kinds of disabilities. The needs of each project and each artist will always be different, so we prioritize flexibility and responsiveness. Access is always imperfect, but always improving.
We seek to facilitate authentic Disabled art. This means more than accurate casting; it means inviting artists and audiences to bring their whole bodyminds into the creative space.
We are inspired by the work of Alison Kopit, Petra Kuppers, the National Disability Theatre, and Sins Invalid. We are informed by the principles of Disability Justice, which insist that “no body or mind can be left behind.”
